Serbian Central Bank Lifts Rate 25bps to 12.50%

The National Bank of Serbia increased its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to 12.50% from 12.25% previously in order to control rising inflation pressures. Serbia reported inflation of 12.6% in February this year, compared to its official inflation target of 4.5% +/- 1.5%. The Bank noted that Serbia is still "decisively influenced by unexpectedly high growth in food prices, caused by global developments,".
