Rwanda Central Bank Holds Rate at 6.00%

The National Bank of Rwanda maintained its key lending rate unchanged at 6.00%. Rwanda saw inflation of 2.56% in February, up from 1.09% in January, driven largely by rising food prices. The Bank increased its inflation forecasts: "Our annual inflation assumption by the end of December, if these trends continue, probably will be in the range of 8 percent,". While Rwanda's Ministry of Finance has flagged that the rate of economic growth in 2010 will likely slow this year to 7.0% from 7.5% in 2010.
